Vancouver, is officially, the most beautiful city in the world. Everything I have seen online, every photo and video, does not do it justice. The view of mountains from my street is literally blowing my mind - coming from a person who lived in the Southern Alps of Aotearoa, I have experienced some pretty beautiful mountain views in my time.

All of my loved ones joked that they were worried I wouldn't want to come back. Well.. those worries were very well placed. I think this may be my city?

I will of course come back in December still, I have a degree to finish.. but after that, we will see :)

I arrived yesterday after a 9 hour flight, my knees were creaking, my brain was foggy, went up and down the wrong lift at the train station, walked in full circles at the crossing before I figured out which bus stop was mine and I almost set fire to spaghetti.. yes.. turns out that is possible. It was definitely the worst jet lag I have ever encountered. I managed to stay up until 8pm Vancouver time regardless which made it a 24 hour day for me I think..

In the evening I walked to Kitsilano Beach, where I watched some incredibly impressive volleyball and basketball going on. I sketched the volleyballers and attempted to sketch the basketball players too but they were moving way too fast and it made me dizzy to attempt.. perhaps I need to figure out a new method for capturing movement.

I walked home, managed to make dinner just about and stay up until 8pm before crashing for the next 14 hours.

It is so exciting being in a city with so much going on. My plans already involve, line dancing, jazz on a boat, seeing Sarah Mclachlan live and tonight, I'm going on a first date to a baseball game, I plan to eat a lot of popcorn.

by staying as much offline as I can, I hope to truly make the most of my time here :)

and with that, I am going to post this post, turn of my computer and go on a walk.

lots of love,

Elle
